AMRLEP Mentorship Program

About the Program

This is a recurring six months program where the applicants are linked with a mentor(s), or organisation in their area of interest to nurture and support them in their professional growth. The mentees will benefit from; guidance from their mentors, learning more about their mentors’ career journey as well as exposure to the different opportunities available in AMR and in their area of interest. This will go a long way in nurturing the young AMR leaders, ensuring continuity of effective efforts already being implemented, and building a network of AMR champions across Africa.

On the other hand, the mentors will also learn from the mentees by exposure to fresh ideas and initiatives, and getting, interacting with like-minded people, and getting an opportunity to engage and acquaint with other professionals working in the AMR sector.

The program will also accommodate organizations that would wish to assist the Young AMR leaders grow professionally by supporting them in implementation of their AMR -affiliated projects, and offering them placement or internship sessions among others.

The AMRLEP mentorship program seeks to support tertiary level students and early career professionals in their professional growth by linking them with experts and highly experienced professionals, and organisations in their field of interest. The program is open to all tertiary level students and early career professionals with a passion and interest in ideation and implementation of efforts aimed at mitigating the ravaging pandemic of Antimicrobial Resistance.

Objectives of the Program.

  1. Serve as a catalyst to support students, early career professionals and the experienced professionals in growing professionally and engaging strategically and effectively in ideation and implementation of AMR mitigation strategies.
  2. Bring together and creating a network of passionate and like-minded individuals who can work together and generate thought-provoking ideas at a personal and organizational level in the implementation of effective AMR strategies.
  3. Contribute to the growth of a movement of empowered early career professionals who can be able to ascend in their careers and occupy decision making positions and thus be able to advocate for AMR efforts more feasibly.
  4. Create an empowering cycle where the students and tertiary level students mentored can voluntarily give back in the future by supporting and mentoring other mentees sustain the growth of the AMR movement in Africa.
