KHARONO JULIET

My key take-aways during the AMRLEP course were; the fact that antimicrobial resistance is a current problem that should be approached with urgency and not just a problem for the future since its adverse effects are terrible when micro-organisms become multi-drug resistant and no treatment options are available to manage infections caused by the organisms. Most importantly, I learnt that I also have an important role to play in fight anti-microbial resistance; From actions that we sometimes take lightly like hand hygiene especially in a health facility setting especially as I interact with and attend to different patient on a daily basis in our teaching hospital(which can really turn out to spread antimicrobial resistant organisms to some “innocent patients” sometimes as nosocomial infections) to more actions like getting vaccinated to avoid unnecessarily using especially antibiotics to treat infections.

I intend to get involved in a number of sensitization sessions with the communities about antimicrobial resistance to share the knowledge acquired during this course.
